A new serial killer emerges, targeting young women from the same congregation. To apprehend the culprit, Nick must confront his deep-seated aversion to the Church and its iconography. As he grapples with this challenge, flashbacks transport viewers to 15th Century France, where Nick encounters a peasant girl destined to become a martyr. Her claims of divine communication lead to her persecution by the Church, which labels her a heretic and sentences her to burn. Despite Nick’s offer of an alternative path to immortality, she steadfastly chooses her faith in an afterlife.
