When the wife and daughter of a prominent philanthropist are abducted for ransom, Nick and Schanke enlist the help of psychic Denise Fort. Although her abilities are authentic, they create complications as she begins to receive glimpses of Nick's hidden existence. Conflicted, Nick struggles with the decision to disclose his true nature to her, as Denise interprets these visions as signs of a mental breakdown. Haunted by memories of a similar incident from Puritan New England, Nick is resolute in ensuring that Denise avoids the tragic fate that befell his mortal friend during that time.
