The U.S. Military presents Jack, Richard, and the Aerojet team with a top-secret mission that has the potential to change the course of World War II, but it also means more attention on Jack's private life. While Jack attempts to balance the realms of mysticism and science, Virgil Byrne's relentless pursuit of the Agape Lodge leads Jack and Susan to provide shelter for the cult in their Pasadena home. Compounding their troubles, Ernest Donovan returns to Los Angeles in a more shattered state than before, further complicating their already tumultuous lives.
