Episode Overview
In the mid-1960s, the aspiration to land on the moon feels more attainable than ever. Following extensive lessons learned from the Mercury and Gemini missions, anticipation builds as the Apollo program approaches its inaugural launch. However, in January 1967, tragedy strikes when Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee lose their lives in a devastating fire during a standard ground test. The space program’s future hangs in the balance, but the Saturn V rocket ultimately elevates the hopes of NASA and the entire nation, propelling them towards the stars.
