As the new school year kicks off, Wheels's parents prohibit him from spending time with Joey, believing he's a negative influence. Meanwhile, Spike is back at school after the summer, having welcomed a baby girl, but she brushes off Shane's request to see the baby. Lucy starts dating an older guy named Paul. Yick discovers that Arthur's mother struck it rich by winning over a million dollars in the lottery during the break. In a shocking turn of events, Wheels comes home from Joey's to learn that both of his parents have tragically lost their lives to a drunk driver.
