Their first major scoop reveals that the girls' swim team can’t attend the tournament finals due to financial issues. Eager to meet the deadline, Screech allows his team to skip Belding's PSAT review and other classes. Mr. Belding confronts Screech about the missed work, prompting him to pause the newspaper operations and lead the PSAT review himself. After the test, the students cleverly get athletic director Mr. Doyle to confess that he misappropriated funds meant for the swim team.
