Heather requests a day off to celebrate Earth Day, while Syd is focused on assisting a pregnant woman in labor, sacrificing her planned trip to New York. She hopes the father will step up to donate blood to save the newborn's life. Meanwhile, Doug receives a job offer in Ohio and invites Joanie to join him on this new adventure. As Syd misses her opportunity to attend a long-awaited reunion, she is surprised by the unexpected arrival of someone she hasn't seen in a decade.
