Episode Overview

Abby, a 71-year-old widow, fills her days with soap operas and spends her nights caring for her overly dependent son, Phillip, and his wife, Judith. Monica and Tess are tasked with helping Abby and Phillip develop some independence. When Monica visits Abby to gather clothes for a fundraiser for the “Living the Rest of My Life” Retirement Community, Abby is initially doubtful. However, after hearing about the community's activities from Tess, she decides to check it out. Upon visiting, Abby discovers a lively group of seniors engaged in various pursuits, though she tries to hide her excitement. She meets Ramone, a young graffiti artist fulfilling community service by assisting Andrew, the handyman, and Lois, a reclusive retired artist who is resistant to socializing. Abby points to Lois and Ramone as reasons why she would prefer to stay home.
