Episode Overview

Tess employs Kathy Benson, a mother of three with a husband incarcerated, to help with holiday gift wrapping. Meanwhile, Andrew is leading an anger management class at the prison where Kathy's husband is serving a five-year sentence for manslaughter. He encourages the inmates to apply for Project Angel Tree, a program that allows them to provide their children's names for Christmas gifts from generous donors. While Kathy is busy at work, Monica looks after the Benson kids, Travis, Cassie, and Cody, and learns that Cody has Tourette's Syndrome, which causes him to twitch and make hiccup-like sounds. A news segment shows the incident that led to Joe's imprisonment for killing a 17-year-old boy, Matt McHale, a year ago. When Kathy returns home, Monica talks about how the attack has impacted Cody's relationship with his father, who hasn’t spoken to him since last Christmas.
