Episode Overview

Monica receives a summons to serve as a juror in a high-stakes murder trial where the accused, Brendan Falstaff, faces the possibility of the death penalty. He is charged with killing his ex-girlfriend, Elizabeth Bennett, allegedly by setting her house ablaze while she slept. The prosecution argues that Brendan deliberately committed arson, while the defense counters that the case relies solely on circumstantial evidence and hearsay. Once the jury hears both arguments, they move to the deliberation room. Carol Anne is appointed foreperson and begins counting the votes, but Monica halts the process, urging her fellow jurors to discuss their decision further. Most believe the evidence points to Brendan's guilt, citing findings such as the arson determination, a gas can discovered in his trunk, and a witness, Mr. Gunderson, who saw Brendan’s car near the crime scene.
