Episode Overview

In 1468 Spain, a harmonious coexistence between Christians, Muslims, and Jews is about to crumble. A young King and Queen declare themselves the Catholic Monarchs and initiate the Inquisition. Converted Jews find themselves accused of undermining the Christian faith, becoming mere pawns in a dangerous game of power. The brutal act of faith claims thousands of lives. When an inquisitor is murdered in Zaragossa, it triggers a brutal cycle of vengeance. Mothers will sacrifice everything to protect their children, and the highest authorities will face dire consequences. This marks the dawn of the Spanish Empire and the onset of a prolonged era of darkness.
