Dr. Samuel Abbott is abducted while working on a revolutionary wireless laser inspired by the light-emitting properties of fireflies. Steve Austin travels to Spain to track down Abbott's daughter, Susan, whose ESP abilities may help find her father. Susan guides Steve to the Everglades, where they uncover a shocking twist: Dr. Abbott is under the impression that his captors are government operatives safeguarding him. Oblivious to the truth, he continues his work on the laser, which is actually being exploited to extort funds from the U.S. Government.
