Episode Overview

The annual school Olympics has Greg overjoyed, as it means the Hughes family will be out for two weekends. However, when Dominic struggles in every event during the first weekend and ends up with a handful of participation trophies, Jimmy is frustrated. He believes these awards undermine true achievement and worries they’ll demotivate Dominic. After overhearing his father criticize his trophies, Dominic feels disheartened. Realizing he mirrored his own father's negativity, Jimmy vows to support Dominic more during the next weekend's events. Although Dominic doesn’t take first place, he proudly earns third after practicing all week, acknowledging that he views the previous trophies as meaningless. Meanwhile, Greg points out to Kim that her home decorating habits are too controlling, prompting her to reconsider her approach.
