Guy Sandys, a former financier, has taken over Midsomer Life magazine, treating it as a leisurely pursuit where he critiques local enterprises. The discovery of Charlie Finleyson's body in the forest close to Sandys’s home raises eyebrows, especially since Sandys's wife, Cristina, had once left him for Finleyson. The plot thickens when Sandys is later found deceased in his office at Midsomer Life. Detectives Barnaby and Jones must navigate a tangled web of potential suspects, each with their own reasons to resent Sandys.
