The tranquil world of Midsomer's game fishermen is disrupted by claims of unsportsmanlike behavior, prompting Barnaby to question Isobel Hewitt, a glamorous 75-year-old widow known for her extravagant lifestyle and Jaguar. Soon after, both Isobel and local doctor Dr. Duncan Goff are discovered dead by the river, their skulls brutally crushed, leaving a host of suspects, including a dubious antique dealer with a penchant for befriending widows.
