As multiple buyers show interest in the property, tensions rise—could one of them resort to murder to eliminate the competition? Barnaby leads the investigation with PC Ben Jones, who he promotes to Detective Constable in DS Scott's absence. Meanwhile, Joyce Barnaby aids local conservationists in identifying significant structures and is drawn to the same cottage, putting her in jeopardy.
