Frank Hopkirk, an environmental consultant working on the contentious Goodfare supermarket project in Elverton-cum-Latterly, is discovered murdered in an abandoned barn on the premises. Detectives Barnaby and Jones interview residents on both sides of the contentious issue, uncovering that Mr. Hopkirk had personal connections with several local women and their enterprises. As they delve deeper, they must determine which of these relationships ignited the intense emotions leading to such a deadly outcome.
