Episode Overview

High-powered TV journalist Debra Willis is involved in a hit-and-run accident when she strikes a teenager and flees the scene. Veteran detective Leo, an old friend, is assigned to investigate the case, while Debra continues to conceal her involvement, even reporting on the incident. Known for her catchphrase, "As my mother always says...," we learn that her mother, Grace, is a strict perfectionist who has always made Debra feel inadequate. After a suicide attempt in her youth, Debra tries again but is saved by Monica, who reveals herself as an angel, teaching Debra that she doesn’t have to be perfect to be worthy of love. Ultimately, Debra opens up about her actions and finds support from her boyfriend, George.
