Episode Overview

In July 1944, just a month after D-Day, a small group of American soldiers navigates the treacherous landscapes of Normandy as part of the Allies' effort to reclaim France. Sergeant Walker leads this weary and fragmented squad. Cynical Private Joe Farady places bets on the daily casualty count, clashing frequently with the ever-optimistic Private Eddie Rourke. The team also includes Privates Nick Dante and Homer Stucky. Unbeknownst to them, Monica, who is on a Search and Rescue mission, observes from the shadows. A flashback reveals the source of Eddie and Joe's rivalry, stemming from a previous encounter at an Allied canteen where Joe discovers Eddie dancing with Stella, a USO hostess he has feelings for. Meanwhile, Tess, another USO singer, informs Monica of her responsibility to help Joe embrace his potential as a hero. Back in the heat of battle, the stakes grow ever higher.
