Toni Cozzi runs her life with the same meticulous organization she applies to her family, following a strict schedule. Unbeknownst to her, Monica and Tess observe as Toni efficiently prepares for her day, tackling even the simplest tasks with precision. Her structured approach is all about keeping her loved ones safe, which includes Amy, her high school volleyball star, and Angelo, the mischievous youngest who plays the tuba. With the grand opening of their new pizza restaurant, "Paul and Toni's Perfect Pizza," just around the corner, Monica is hired as a chef, and Andrew as a handyman. However, Toni refuses to share the secret family sauce recipe, even with her own family. Meanwhile, she becomes increasingly concerned about Amy's unusual thirst and mood swings, fearing she may be involved with drugs. When Amy collapses during a volleyball match, doctors reveal she has juvenile diabetes, prompting Tess to guide the family through this challenging time.
