Episode Overview

Hamilton possesses a wooden chest filled with treasures from medieval Christian pilgrimages, including clamshell pendants from the Camino de Santiago and Jerusalem crosses from the Holy Land. He also has two stone carvings: one features a cloaked pilgrim carrying a book and a staff, while the other depicts a similar figure holding a spear. Carl and Hamilton's adventure begins in southern France, the traditional starting point of the Camino. They journey through the Pyrenees, visiting significant sites like Charlemagne’s Cross, where pilgrims pay homage and pray to St. James. As they descend into Spain, they arrive at a historic castle that was pivotal during the fierce conflicts between Christian and Muslim forces over this territory in the Middle Ages.
