Episode Overview
Mama is ranting about Vint's friend Claude being a deadbeat when Ellen finally returns Mama's silver. She insists Vint put it away immediately to prevent theft. Before he can, Claude calls asking for help. He’s in jail after a bar fight and needs $250 for bail. Vint tries to ask Ellen for the money, but she flatly refuses, prompting him to pawn Mama's silver. The next morning, as Mama organizes the closet, she discovers the silver is missing. She wakes Vint, who reluctantly admits he pawned it. Furious, Mama demands he retrieve it, and when he explains the situation, her anger escalates. Amid their heated argument, Vint decides to leave, while Sonya offers to stay with Nancy. He heads to the basement to pack, but Mama can't bear to see him go and calls him back upstairs. They manage to reconcile, at least temporarily.
