After the passing of her father, Catherine is welcomed by Vincent to the underground world, where she can find solace in her sorrow. However, he understands that her true place is above, despite his strong feelings for her. With a heavy heart, Catherine ultimately concedes to his wishes and returns to the surface, leaving behind the refuge she briefly found in his company.
