Brennan finds herself reflecting on her own life when the remains of a talented and ambitious surgeon are discovered in a dangerous area, her skull bearing multiple fractures and no clear explanation for her presence there. As the team approaches the investigation with a level head, Brennan struggles to detach her own experiences from those of the deceased, drawing numerous similarities as she delves deeper into the victim’s history. Evidence collected from the scene edges the team toward a resolution, but it's Brennan's distinctive insight that leads her to piece together the last moments of the surgeon’s life. With support from a new friend, Micah Leggat, a security guard at the Jeffersonian, Brennan uncovers something significant about herself and learns the importance of embracing opportunities.
