At a lavish gathering for the new elite at Senator Edward Gale’s upscale Washington residence, chaos erupts when his daughter, Eva, suddenly appears with a firearm. In a shocking moment, she shoots him in the arm before security can intervene and restrain her. The following day, Liam Kincaid and Renee Palmer receive a holographic message from Hubble Urick, who updates them on the shooting and reveals that Eva is hospitalized. She has tested positive for Kryss, a substance previously used by Taelons and said to have been eliminated from production. Liam is both shocked and furious, realizing that Eva, who vanished three weeks earlier to join an archaeological dig, must have been forced to work in a Kryss factory. Now, Liam and Renee are determined to uncover proof that the factory is still operational.
