Episode Overview
Originally a racing track, the Autobahn evolved into an advanced high-speed roadway system due to Adolf Hitler’s propaganda during World War II, connecting nearly all major German cities. With its robust road beds, gentle 4% grades, and wide lanes, the Autobahn is engineered with multiple layers of technology. Approximately two-thirds of the highway permits vehicles to exceed speeds of 160 km/h. This episode explores the work of highway patrol officers and their use of technology for training, monitoring, and apprehending offenders. It also highlights the ADAC, known as ‘The Yellow Angels,’ which offers roadside assistance and air medical rescue, along with examining the Autobahn's maintenance, making it one of the safest super highways globally.
