Episode Overview

Steve and the master carpenter arrive at the project house via the water, finding a suitable dock right at the property’s edge. They meet Janet McCue, who is overseeing her family's move-out during the renovation, along with her husband David, who takes them on a tour of the spacious interior. Steve connects with architect Stephen Holt, who shares a historic photo of the house from a century ago. Seeking inspiration, they explore a beautifully preserved Shingle-style home from 1881. Later, Richard Trethewey and Tom Silva arrive by boat to conduct a mechanical assessment of the house alongside the master carpenter. Their conclusion: a sturdy, well-maintained structure ready for renovation. The McCues express their vision for the project, aiming for better integration between the home and yard, a revamped kitchen, an upgraded master bath and bedroom, and a great room for music and leisure.
