The Tunnel (2013)
S23E23 The Manchester House - 23
Episode Overview
Mud season has come early to Manchester, and Steve helps our producer out of the muck to kick off the show. Inside the mudroom, Joe Ferrante is busy laying down 6 x 6 Chinese slate, while our master carpenter inspects the freshly delivered kitchen cabinets. Their light mahogany finish will beautifully contrast with the painted "furniture-look" islands. Other cabinetry, measured on-site, was cut at a factory in the Midwest and shipped back to cabinetmaker Tom Perkins’ shop in Massachusetts. Our master carpenter visits Tom to check on the project's progress. Meanwhile, back at the house, painting contractor Jim Clark teaches Steve how to paint intricate trim with an HVLP sprayer, and lighting designer Susan Arold discusses her strategies for the music room's unique challenges. Later, Tom and the master carpenter evaluate the new quartersawn oak floating floor being installed by contractor Pat Hunt and his team, noting how this product has only improved over the years.
