The Tunnel (2013)
S31E07 Newton Centre; Pruning Hemlocks and Checking in on This Old House Austin
Episode Overview
Landscape contractor Roger Cook teams up with certified arborist Matt Foti in Newton Centre to trim the hemlock trees located at the house's corner and along the driveway. Inside, master electrician Allen Gallant installs a new bath fan in the powder room, cleverly disguised as a recessed light while featuring built-in ventilation. Host Kevin O'Connor heads to Austin, Texas, to check in on the project of a 1920s bungalow—our first certified green building—which was expanded for a family of four. Nearly three years later, the homeowners and builder share insights on the house's performance. Meanwhile, general contractor Tom Silva demonstrates to Kevin how he's roofing the new addition to seamlessly blend with the original structure using architectural asphalt shingles.
