Ernie misunderstands Elizabeth's kind gestures, thinking they mean more than they do. Meanwhile, David feels envious of the time Janet spends with a male coworker. Tom steps in to offer David some advice, while Abby provides support to Janet, leading both couples to find happiness together. On another note, Nicholas grows tired of his own home life and enjoys playing at a friend's place, unaware that his friend is actually having a better time over at Nicholas's house.
