What initially appears to be a simple case of suicide takes a darker turn. At Charlotte Moran's funeral, her father, Frank Evans, and her husband, Dave Moran, are devastated by her loss. Unbeknownst to them, John Wheeler, who is preparing Charlotte's coffin at the crematorium, is also in tears when Dave confronts him in anger. Two weeks later, Mary Hunt, the crematorium secretary, reports the mysterious disappearance of both Dave and John. Rumors swirl about an affair between John and Charlotte. Janine launches an investigation, and forensic tests uncover that another body was cremated alongside Charlotte's. She informs her team that they have both a murderer and a victim on their hands, but the identities remain unclear.
