Wildest Islands (2012)
S02E05 Falkland Islands: Penguin Paradise
Episode Overview
Situated 460 kilometers from the South American coast, the Falklands are a rugged and windswept archipelago. With their dramatic mountains and untouched coastline, these islands serve as a pristine habitat for wildlife, particularly the beloved penguins, one of the most recognizable flightless birds. The sandy beaches and lush meadows create a perfect sanctuary, hosting over a million breeding penguins each summer. In a rockhopper penguin colony, chaos ensues as sea lions launch surprise attacks on gentoo penguins in the waves, while scavenging skuas pick at the carcasses of washed-up Magellanic penguins, and black-browed albatrosses engage in their elaborate courtship displays.
