Henry's tolerance reaches its breaking point, leading him to secretly wed Anne. He places his Lutheran chaplain, Thomas Cranmer, at the helm of the Church of England and revokes Queen Katherine's title and position. Soon after, the newly married couple welcomes their first child, but their hopes are dashed when it turns out to be a girl, whom they name Elizabeth.
