A newcomer named Ron arrives in town and offers to help Sam and Emma in exchange for food and shelter. They gladly accept, as they could use the extra assistance. However, it soon becomes clear that Ron is the man who abandoned Maggie when she was a young, expectant mother. Eager to make amends, Ron approaches Maggie, but she firmly rejects his attempts to reconnect.
