When Chloe welcomes her baby into the world, Susan unexpectedly finds herself stepping up as the caregiver, as both Chloe and her mother, Cookie, avoid their responsibilities. Doug is taken aback and somewhat intimidated when Diane proposes they cohabitate, leading to an opportunity for Linda Farrell to exploit his unease. Meanwhile, Carter is presented with a chance to take on the ER sub-internship but declines, hoping for a future surgical role instead.
