Episode Overview

On the sweltering hottest day of October, the air conditioning fails, creating chaos as nearby hospitals remain closed. Dr. Ross finds himself treating a six-year-old child who has overdosed on cocaine, while liquor store owner Ivan Gregor seriously injures a teenage boy in a shooting. Meanwhile, Susan's immature sister, Chloe, arrives unexpectedly, complicating Susan's life further. Doug's decision to flirt with a pharmaceutical saleswoman adds to the tensions, much to Carol's annoyance. The day spirals into a whirlwind of challenges for the ER staff as they navigate the crisis.
