Episode Overview

The emergency room becomes a chaotic scene as it handles the aftermath of a gang-related shooting. Carter shows up late and unready to embrace his new role. Meanwhile, Mark navigates the complexities of being an attending physician, discovering the senior staff's tendency to criticize the residents, especially Doug Ross. To shake things up, Mark appoints Kerry Weaver as the new chief resident. Additionally, a fresh batch of third-year medical students arrives to begin their rotations in the ER.
