Susan seeks help from a psychiatrist as she struggles with the grief of losing Little Susie. Meanwhile, Jeanie's husband Al, whom she hasn't seen in a while, arrives at the ER with flu symptoms, which are ultimately revealed to be due to HIV. Shep hopes that Carol will support his account of the situation during an inquiry into his actions. As Loretta's condition deteriorates, Doug uncovers the troubling news that his father has vanished, taking a significant amount of Karen's money with him.
