Meanwhile, Peter meets with Dr. Kotlowitz, who offers him hope regarding a cochlear implant for Reese. The emergency room welcomes Dr. Amanda Lee, a potential new chief. Carol, still reeling from her recent miscarriage, confronts a mother who views abortion as a method of selective reproduction. Tensions rise between Carter and Lucy when he inadvertently uses her palm computer and discovers her unflattering opinions about him.
