S01E08 The Broken Bridge
Episode Overview
Mr. Carraway is on his way to the Chigley biscuit factory restaurant with three boxes of plaice when PC McGarry arrives to inform them that the Chigley bridge is unsafe and closed to all vehicles. This poses a problem for Mr. Cresswell, who has a biscuit delivery scheduled. Mr. Carraway suggests using the temporary bridge the boys at Pippin Fort have, located at Treddles Wharf across the river. After making a few calls, Lord Belborough heads off in Bessie to retrieve it. Meanwhile, the soldiers remain stranded, but thanks to Mr. Dagenham’s helicopter, they are lifted across the river three at a time to assemble the bridge. Mr. Carraway is the first to test it out, after which everyone heads off to the six o'clock dance.
