Episode Overview

Sugimoto and Asirpa find themselves on the run from the soldiers of the 7th Division. Private Genjirō Tanigaki locates Asirpa but is quickly driven back by Retar. In a desperate move, Sugimoto escapes into a bear’s den, where the bear attacks and kills the soldiers before succumbing to its injuries. Sugimoto and Asirpa rescue a baby bear from the cave and bring it to Asirpa's village, where they meet her grandmother, Huci. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Tokushirou Tsurumi leads a search for the missing troops. In Otaru, Hijikata sets a trap for the tattooed prisoner Ushiyama Tatsuma, proposing a collaboration to gather the tattooed skins.
