S06E11 To Bear Witness
Episode Overview
Harness maker Walter Varig (Harry Landers) and Dr. Baldwin (Malachi Throne) find themselves in a heated dispute when Varig withdraws his agreement to allow the doctor to use land for a new hospital in Medicine Bow. During a visit to town, Trampas intervenes to calm the doctor and takes him back to his office. There, Dr. Baldwin discovers his nurse, Carol Fisk (Joanna Moore), tending to young Nancy (Lorette Strome), the daughter of lawyer Arthur Blanton (William Windom). Trampas accompanies Carol to the blacksmith to repair the leg brace. However, Varig confronts Carol, fueled by jealousy and accusations of an affair with the doctor, resulting in a violent altercation that prompts Trampas to defend her. Varig vows to make trouble for Carol and starts watching her home, leading to escalating tensions. Later, Trampas sets out to protect her.
