While on a work assignment in Montana, The Virginian discovers a region safeguarded by a former outlaw who now protects several communities. Everything seems peaceful until he is compelled to take down one of the local enforcers. This act of self-defense puts him in grave danger, leaving him vulnerable and without any support.
