In the season finale, the CSIs are called in to examine the grim discovery of a young woman's remains found crammed into an overturned shopping cart by a freeway underpass. Her face is horrific, marred by severe disfigurement and decay, resembling a scene from a nightmare, with a conspicuous circular wound on her left cheek.
