S01E02 Very Small House
Episode Overview
Architect Domenic Alvaro and his partner Sue Bassett are passionate urbanites who adore the vibrant Surry Hills neighborhood in Sydney. However, the price of their dream location is steep. To manage costs, they devise a clever strategy: buy a very small plot and build vertically. They purchase a compact car park measuring just 7m x 6m and aim to create a spacious 220 square meters of bright living area. The vertical construction progresses swiftly with pre-fabricated concrete panels that fit together like a puzzle. While the build is quick and effective, they face unique challenges on-site, including maneuvering a large crane through narrow streets to position the oversized panels and windows. With obstacles ahead, the question remains: will the outcome justify the difficulties?
