Henry begins to grapple with his own mortality as he learns that his longtime friend and occasional rival, King Francis, along with his steadfast soldier Charles Brandon, are both nearing death. Confronted with the reality of his own end, he is visited by the spirits of his former wives, each granted the opportunity to address him.
