Episode Overview

On February 4, 1999, a tragic event unfolded when 22-year-old Guinean immigrant Amadou Diallo was fatally shot by four plainclothes officers of the New York City Police Department: Sean Carroll, Richard Murphy, Edward McMellon, and Kenneth Boss. Diallo, who had no weapon and no criminal history, ran from the officers after they ordered him to show his hands. In a shocking turn, he was hit by 41 bullets. Despite the clear evidence against the officers involved, they were ultimately acquitted of all charges.
