In late September 1992, Audrey Hepburn returned to Switzerland after her trip to Somalia and began to feel abdominal discomfort. In November, tests conducted at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles diagnosed her with a rare type of abdominal cancer known as pseudomyxoma peritonei. Following surgery and chemotherapy, Hepburn spent her final days at her home in Switzerland, where she peacefully passed away in her sleep on January 20, 1993.
