Kimble seeks shelter from law enforcement at a secluded farmhouse, where he encounters Mattie Braydon, a sculptor afflicted by hysterical blindness. Living with her older sister and uncle, Mattie offers Kimble a job as a farmhand and begins to use him as inspiration for her clay figures in the barn. However, Kimble soon discovers that the seemingly gentle Mattie harbors a sinister side—she is possessive and manipulative, willing to go to extreme lengths, including murder, to keep her troubling past hidden and to claim Kimble for herself.
