Kimble secures a job at a Laundromat run by Charlie Paris, a former comedian and mob bookmaker aiming for a fresh start. Unbeknownst to Kimble, a hit has been ordered on Charlie due to his testimony against dangerous associates. Charlie is eager to reconcile with his long-time girlfriend, Paula, who seems more captivated by Kimble. When a mob associate offers Paula $8,000 to betray Charlie, she seizes the opportunity, despite Charlie dismissing Kimble's warnings about Paula's true intentions to sell him out.
